VoteVantage AIExperimental

Analysis you won’t find in the raw data
LegiScan gives everyone the same bills and roll calls. VoteVantage does its own math on top of them, and shows how.
Ideology scores
Members with enough recorded votes get a score calculated from their own Yea and Nay votes, not from the party next to their name. Scores are compared with the rest of the chamber, so you can see who votes near the middle and who votes at the edges.
- Calculated from the voting record, with no AI involved
- Shown on profiles with a career percentile and the number of votes analyzed
- Feeds the rankings and district vulnerability
Coalition Targets
Pick a legislator and see who votes with them most often across their full recorded history. Members who agree 85% of the time or more are marked as coalition targets: the likeliest allies when you’re counting votes.
- Procedural votes left out, so agreement reflects substance
- Narrow it to one party to find allies inside a caucus
- Every match one click from their own profile
A complete record for every legislator
Open any member to see their vote totals, district lean and full history, with sponsored bills, party alignment and coalition targets one tab away.
- Every recorded roll call, filterable by session
- Final-passage votes set against the district’s presidential lean
- Works on a phone, for when you’re in the Capitol

Frequently asked questions
What people ask before they request access.
Is VoteVantage partisan?
No. Every legislator, in either party, is measured with the same methods, and each ranking shows its methodology beside the numbers.
Which states are covered?
Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma during the alpha. How much history is available varies by state. New states will be listed here once their data is loaded.
Where does the data come from?
Bills, sponsors, roll calls and bill text come from LegiScan under CC BY 4.0, with official bill documents linked. District presidential results are credited on each profile.
How are ideology scores calculated?
From the roll-call record. For each chamber, VoteVantage looks at how members voted Yea or Nay and finds the main pattern that separates them (a principal component analysis), which becomes the score. No AI is involved. Members need enough recorded votes to be scored, and scores are compared within a chamber, not across states.
How does VoteVantage AI work?
It answers from VoteVantage’s own bill and vote data and shows which bills an answer is based on. It’s experimental, so check important answers against the linked record.
Can I sign up today?
Not yet. Access is by invitation during the alpha. Request access and we’ll reply by email.
What will it cost?
Plans and prices aren’t final. The figures on this page are provisional, and nothing is billed during the alpha.
